Apparently today is New In Town Day at the Mall of America! New In Town is a brand new movie coming out this friday starring Renee Zellwegger as a fashionable person transplanted to the “frigid wasteland” of Minnesota. It looks like people are already lining up for co-star Harry Connick, Jr.’s autograph signing at 5:30pm.

We don’t know when it will open, but Noodles & Company is coming soon.

Today while walking through the Mall of America I noticed this interesting ad in the hallway:

Ever since the Mall of America opened, the theater has been owned by one of the major theater chains, first being General Cinemas and more recently AMC. But apparently AMC has sold the cinema back to the Mall or to a third party. Also, the ad says that some of the screens have been upgraded to “Digital” and “3-D”.  Finally, it touts new seating and “new management”. Here’s the new look of the front entrance area on the 4th floor:

Welcome to the Mall of America blog!

I’m da Man, who works near the Mall of America and visits there often.  I have been interested in business-related items and have a slight fascination witht he retail market as well, even though I have no real professional connection with it.  What I find the most interesting is the turnover in the building, as well as the newest and changed things.  Really, though, I hate shopping at any mall - I’d rather look at the business side of things.  Plus, malls are all so overpriced.

What you will find, though, is pictures of things that I find funny at the Mall of America as well as new businesses moving in or new developments.  Most of the posts on here will be directly on my iPhone, so they will probably not be this long or wordy and have more pictures.

Why am I doing this whole thing?  Well, partially because I’m interested in this stuff and would love to share my thoughts with an audience.  And as a web developer, it’s a bit of an experiment in blogging about a specific subject, building an audience, and generating traffic.  We’ll see how it works.
